This is my internal monologue whenever I think about writing content and SEO.

Being a freelancer with a caffeine addiction rivaling a Silicon Valley coder, I have been juggling multiple clients, each demanding blog posts, articles, and website copy faster than she could say "SEO." 😫

On one such day, when I could not move my hands to write just another SEO article because my once-beloved keyboard started looking like a torture device, I was ready to throw in the towel (or maybe my laptop).

My dog and I realized it was time for a serious intervention. AI intervention!

Then, I came across Byword AI on my LinkedIn feed (One of its co-founders, Jake Ward, had posted how one can generate 100 SEO articles with byword.ai in less than a few hours). 

Suddenly, those looming deadlines didn't seem so terrifying.

Byword AI was churning out high-quality, SEO-optimized content faster than I could refill my coffee mug. My dog was relieved, my keyboard was grateful, and I was finally back to enjoying the creative side of writing.

SEO Optimized Articles

One of Byword’s best features is the SEO-optimized articles it creates.

Byword doesn't just sprinkle your target keyword a few times and call it a day. It creates content that truly understands search intent. Think relevant context, semantic keywords added naturally into the text, and H1s and H2s placed strategically. It's the kind of content that Google loves to rank.

I added only one keyword, and it generated a 1500-word article in a few seconds. The article did not have H3s, only H1s and H2s. While that’s not ideal, it’s not a big deal either.

To evaluate if the content is SEO-optimized, you can check its content score on surferseo.com. Since SurferSEO offers a reverse trial pricing model, I could not personally check the score. However, many notable experts in the content industry have said that without edits, byword-generated articles have scored a solid 75 out of 100.

For an article that’s generated just with a keyword (a string of words), this score is not bad at all!

Single & Batch Generation

Byword has two main interfaces for building articles: single and batch article generators.

Single Article Generator

It is useful for either testing out articles or creating them individually.

Batch Generator

It is useful for generating many articles in bulk as quickly as possible.

To use it, click on batch generator and decide:

• A name for your project

   

• Whether you'd like to generate your articles based on a list of keywords or article titles.

Once you've decided on those two points, enter a list of keywords or article titles into the box, as shown in the image above.

You can use tools like Ahrefs or Semrush to identify your ideal keywords, then feed them into Byword's batch generator for a hands-off approach to content creation.

Set it to auto-publish directly to your site and watch the magic happen. Once you see those rankings start to climb, a few manual tweaks can give your content that extra push to the top of the search results.

Custom Articles Generation

This is a new feature launched by Byword that lets you generate 100s of programmatic SEO articles in a few hours.

If you are a visual learner like me, you may choose to watch this tutorial video or scan through Jake Ward’s LinkedIn carousel post.

You can choose how to structure your article. You can add new sections like text blocks, lists, FAQs, tables, etc.

You add relevant datasets into the above block to create multiple articles with the desired variables. For instance, if you want to write 10 articles on the Best restaurants in {City X}, then your data will contain names of 10 cities.

Articles Creation Modes

Byword doesn't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to content creation.

That's why it offers three distinct modes, each tailored to different needs and workflows:

1. Keyword Mode: The SEO Powerhouse

   • Perfect for those large-scale SEO campaigns where you've got a list of keywords ready to roll.

   • Let Byword handle the titles, headings, and everything in between. It'll do the heavy lifting so you can focus on the big picture.

2. Title Mode: The Step-by-Step Guide

   • Ideal for those "X Steps to Achieve Y" type articles that are so popular these days.

   • Just give Byword a title, specify the number of steps, and watch it generate a comprehensive guide.

3. Title + Headings Mode: The Control Freak's Dream

   • This one's for those who like to get their hands a little dirty.

   • Analyze the SERPs, brainstorm your own unique angle, and then let Byword fill in the gaps with its AI magic.

Personally, I love the "Title + Headings" mode for that extra bit of creative control. But honestly, all three modes deliver fantastic results when used in the right context. It's all about finding what works best for your content strategy.

Cost-Benefit Analysis: Content Team vs. Byword AI

To publish 100 blogs per month (as per Emilia Korczynska, Head of Marketing at UserPilot), you need the following:

• 1 Head of Content [INR 25-30 LPA] + Content Manager [INR 15-17 LPA]: responsible for brief creation and subject-matter-expert editing

• 3 content editors [INR 8-10 LPA each]

• 3-4 freelance writers [INR 5-15 per word]

• 1 publisher [INR 8-10 LPA]

Considering the standard plan will cost you ~$360.00 (80 articles in the package + 20 extra articles), which roughly translates to INR 30,300 per month and INR 3,63,000 per annum.

While the idea is not to replace entire content teams, you can surely reduce your team’s headcount by 1 or 2 freelance writers.

Things that worked well:

1. The UI is simple and clean.

2. The features are spot on! As a writer, I can say this tool is handy for those first drafts.

3. With Byword, you can export your articles for further analysis or integration with other tools.

4. Byword's knowledge base and guides are your go-to resource for mastering the tool. Excellent documentation!

5. Whether you want a formal, friendly, or persuasive tone, Byword's presets and custom options let you fine-tune the voice of your content.

6. Not happy with the first draft? Byword will rewrite it without using up another credit. It's like having a built-in editor!

7. The user priming at every step of the product is done quite well. For instance, the tool tells you which action will consume a credit and which one won’t

The Byword team consists of seasoned SEO and content marketing experts whose experience shines through in every aspect of the tool.

Things that can be improved:

1. The UX could be improved, especially for the onboarding—it’s not very intuitive. In a couple of places, the instructions are unclear, the CTA buttons don’t work, etc.

2. The quality of the articles is not that great. But I guess it’s comparable with ChatGPT-4o. Moreover, Byword has so many other cool features, making it a great product.

   • The articles did not pass AI detection in most cases; I guess that’s where your editor comes into play.

3. Competitor Analysis & Outranking: Feed Byword your competitor's sitemap and let it generate content designed to outperform their search rankings.

4. Answer with precision: Create bite-sized content snippets that directly address specific questions, perfect for FAQs or quick knowledge sharing.

Byword is a no-brainer if your goal is to create hundreds (or even thousands) of long-form, SEO-optimized blog posts to build topical authority fast. The sheer volume of quality content you can churn out in a matter of days at that price point is mind-blowing.

Personally, I like adding my unique voice and experience to my writing. And, what Byword brings to the table is a rock-solid first draft.

With a few tweaks, some formatting love, and a sprinkle of visuals, I can transform Byword's output into a final piece that meets my high standards. And let's be honest, finding another tool that can do that for just $5 per article is like finding a unicorn in your backyard.

It's not about replacing my creativity; it's about amplifying it. Byword gives me a head start, freeing up my time to focus on the nuances and personal touches that make my content truly unique.
