It all started when Sam Altman wrote “HER“ on his X profile!

It’s been almost half a day since OpenAI launched GPT-4o [Omni] and the hype is real. GPT 4o is an iteration of the GPT-4 model, which is 2x as fast as the last model, GPT 4 Turbo. And, it costs half as much. And, it also recognizes video and audio.

You can watch OpenAI’s videos demo-ing some of the coolest features of GPT 4o on YouTube. But if you're short on time, here's the lowdown:

And that's just the tip of the iceberg 🏔! Their blog post reveals even more exciting applications like character design, photo-to-caricature, text-to-font, 3D object synthesis, brand placement on objects, multiline rendering, accurate image-to-text generation, etc.

Of course, not everyone is thrilled. Some folks were hoping for GPT-5 or at least a 4.5 upgrade, and Plus users (like me!) feel a bit left out with just a desktop app and some extra limits 😒. Duolingo's stock even took a hit after the announcement 📉 

But, on the flip side, lots of people are already figuring out how to incorporate GPT-4o into their daily lives and work. Every team is going to be AI-first and every interaction is going to be voice-first. And, by making it free for everyone, OpenAI has given millions of users a chance to explore its potential. 🌟

One thing's for sure: OpenAI definitely one-upped Google by showcasing almost everything Google had teased in their pre-event video. Can't wait to see what Google brings to the table at their event today! Watch out as we cover more on this in our next edition.
